CN Cupid offers its members a great array of features and search options to increase the chances of finding a Chinese date. Its members are international, many of whom reside in the US and Canada, and the whole service is very affordable. However, it’s worth remembering that this service is provided by AsianWomenDate, and that CN Cupid is more of a shop front than anything else. Therefore, you’ll find members of many Asian ethnicities, not just Chinese. Whilst this certainly has its benefits, this does mean that you’ll have to search for Chinese members, and this means upgrading to access the advanced search options.

But really, that isn’t such bad news. There’s a lot to like about the website, from its (potentially) in-depth profile pages to the fact that members can upload up to 26 photos. Although it’s not “just Chinese” dating in the strictest senses, it still has a lot to offer. Let’s run through the process of finding a date and we can consider some of those positive points.

Registration should go smoothly, although you do need to answer a few questions to get the ball rolling. This helps the system to recommend members based on your life style and preferences, and the more information you provide, the more accurate your matches will be. A full profile can include plenty of information, although we would like to see a little more space for members to write more in their own words. Still, they do the job.

As we’ve mentioned, you can upload up to 26 pictures (as an upgraded member), which allows you to show off what you enjoy, as well as all of your best angles. The vast majority of members have uploaded a photo and, if you want to ignore members who haven’t, then this is a simple operation through the search options. Profiles will give you information such as a member’s age, their location, who they are seeking and more.

You can easily send an email if you upgrade, or a free wink as a basic member. If you find several members who you like the look of, then you can click “add to favorites” to keep a note of them and find them again later. However, the site doesn’t automatically tell you when someone is online, so you can wait for some time to talk. 

There are a couple of vital features missing from the site. Firstly, you cannot see when someone is online so you’ll end up waiting for replies. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, it seems as though there isn’t a dedicated instant messenger feature so you'll have to email members. Emails are sent quickly and easily, but it’s still a pain and breaks up the fluidity of a conversation. Other features missing include video options, which is less of a problem but still not great.

This is a shame because the site does so well with other features, such as community forums, blog posts, e-cards, ‘first date ideas’ and more. If you’re somebody who will just log on every now and then, rather than spend hours talking at one time, this shouldn’t be an issue, but otherwise the lack of an IM is quite the oversight.

When we performed a search we had a lot of profiles in our results – we didn’t count but there were certainly more than 50 pages. This is good to see and shows that the site has enough members to keep you interested. How many of these are active, is another question. Without being able to see who was online or when they last logged on, we couldn’t discern whether it was worth emailing a member or not. This could severely damage your chances of finding a date in an otherwise lucrative space.

So it’s up to you to take these things into consideration. With a few minor, but important, additions this could be a superb dating site for finding people of Chinese heritage, but at the moment there are a few deep flaws that could put some people off.
