ChinaLoveLink.com says that it has thousands of members, both attractive Chinese women and handsome Chinese men, who are looking for love. What’s more, if you’re interested in having a date come to visit or stay with you, the site suggests that many of its members are looking to relocate. With video options, as well as regular email and IM tools, and a very affordable choice of contracts, China Love Link provides a friendly space to meet Chinese dates.

All’s not perfect on the site, but we’ll come to that shortly. First, we’d like to consider some of the positives. If you take a look at the price list we’ve provided, you’ll see that this website is far from expensive, particularly if you take out a 1 year contract. Even if you’d just like to try the full service for a month, prices are fair and they don’t charge way over the odds for a one month subscription. This is good to see as sometimes dating sites really push for the longer contracts by hiking up the price of the shorter ones. So what do you get for your money?

You can build a profile and are able to include plenty of information if you choose. A lot of the information is optional, which has its pros and cons. This makes registration far easier and quicker, but it does mean that some people have incomplete profile pages, and therefore you won’t learn as much about them as you might hope. Still, you could always ask them for more information once you’ve started chatting.

Chatting can be achieved through sending email-style messages to individuals, or through asking them to talk in an instant chat. You can also say hello by uploading videos to your profile, showing them any part of your life that you feel is relevant. Unfortunately we had some problems uploading a photo, which meant that we couldn't access other people’s profiles in full. We’re not sure what the problem was, but this is definitely in need of attention. If you experience a similar problem, we recommend contacting customer services and asking for help.

There are a few extra features worth mentioning, including the “gifts” and “winks” sections, which allow you to show you’re interested in someone. The gifts aren’t “real”; they are romantic images or cards to which you can add messages.

Sadly, there is no translation service on offer so, if your potential match doesn’t read and write English, then you’ll be stuck. There are also no community features such as chat rooms, and we’d like to see those video options extended to webcam chat options, if possible.

All of that considered, China Love Link offers a decent service for chatting to Chinese people who are looking for serious relationships. It has a few areas to work on, but it is very affordable and won’t break the bank even if you only wish to try it out for a month or so.
